Open House
WM hosts an annual informational and educational open house for its neighbors. Highlights of the event are landfill tours by bus, kid-friendly games, WM trucks and equipment on display, and prizes. The event provides insight on how Mill Seat Landfill operates from construction and design to renewable energy production. At information booths, attendees have the opportunity to talk with all of the entities that work in conjunction with the landfill including engineers, contractors, consultants, regulators, vendors and elected officials.
The event is typically held in July or August (biennial) with an attendance of over 1,000 neighbors each year. Community partners, such as the Churchville Lions Club, Churchville Fire Department, local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and many others help make this annual event a community wide success.
